About Overland AI
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.
Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.
Role Summary:
Overland AI is seeking a Content Strategist to join our Communications & Marketing (C&M)
team and help shape how we tell the story of mission-ready ground autonomy. This role sits at
the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and execution, with a mandate that spans social media,
thought leadership, website content, and cross-functional initiatives across our team.
As a Content Strategist, you will embed deeply within a highly technical, fast-moving defense
technology environment. You will work closely with teammates within the C&M team—brand
design, video production and editing, and product marketing—alongside other internal
stakeholders—such as our software, hardware, and business development teams—to translate
complex autonomy capabilities into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with end users,
customers, partners, investors, and the broader public.
This is a generalist role for a strong writer, editor, and strategist who can move fluidly across
channels and formats. You will be responsible not only for creating high-quality content, but also
for shaping messaging, improving ideas, and coordinating projects across teams to ensure
consistency, clarity, and impact. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning work from early
concept through final delivery and thrives in an environment where priorities evolve quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy and Creation
• Develop and execute content across multiple channels, including social media, website
copy, blog posts, thought leadership essays, product storytelling, white papers, video
scripts, and executive talking points.
• Lead social media strategy and day-to-day execution, with a focus on clear messaging,
narrative consistency, and showcasing real-world use of Overland technology by end
users.
• Create website content that highlights Overland’s products, autonomy capabilities, and
field-proven performance, with particular emphasis on warfighter, operator, and customer
perspectives.
• Draft and edit thought leadership content for company leaders on topics such as ground
autonomy, national security, operational relevance, and defense innovation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Project Management
• Partner closely with engineering, product, field operations, business development, and
leadership to understand technical concepts and translate them into accessible,
compelling content.
• Coordinate content for major company moments, including product announcements, field
demonstrations, experiments, events, and companywide communications.
• Manage timelines, inputs, reviews, and approvals for content projects, ensuring work
ships quickly without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborate with designers, video producers, agencies, and external vendors to deliver
integrated content and campaigns.
Messaging and Narrative Development
• Help define and maintain consistent messaging across channels, audiences, and products.
• Provide strategic feedback to improve clarity, structure, and effectiveness of written and
visual communications.
• Support leadership with messaging for all-hands meetings, external speaking
engagements, and high-visibility interactions with government, military, and industry
audiences.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with 5+ years of experience in
content strategy, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
• Proven experience creating content for technology products, ideally in defense, robotics,
autonomy, software, or other technical domains.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for
different audiences and platforms.
• Strong interest in social media as a strategic communications channel, with experience
shaping messaging and narratives rather than simply posting content.
• Ability to work closely with technical teammates, including engineers and product
leaders, and translate complex concepts into clear, credible stories.
• Comfort operating in a fast-growing, lightly structured environment where priorities shift
and ownership matters.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple
workstreams at once.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive or pre-decisional
information.
Location:
The preferred location for this position is either Seattle, WA, or Washington, DC.
Benefits:
Overland AI believes in creating a work environment that you look forward to embracing every
day.
• The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000 annually
• Equity compensation
• Best-in-class healthcare, dental, and vision plans
• Unlimited PTO
• 401k with company match
• Parental leave
