Job Title: HD/OG Operator in Training (O.I.T) Reports to: Production Supervisor Location: San Marcos, Texas

About this role

The HD/OG Operator in Training is an entry level, hands-on role responsible for basic operation, setup, and optimization of HD/OG systems within the magnet production process. This position serves as a role to grow into an advanced operator role , supporting the qualified operators and Production Supervisor by providing daily operational assistance, learning troubleshooting and diagnostics, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
This role is critical to maintaining process stability, product quality, and throughput while assisting operators across HD/OG systems.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Technical & Operational Foundations
  • Learning the operation and setup of the HD/OG machine systems within the magnet production process.
  • Following strict safety, quality, and efficiency guidelines.
  • Assisting Operators, Team Lead, and Production Supervisor with daily production coordination and prioritization.
  • Participating actively in on-the-job training and technical guidance from HD/OG Operators and Machine-System Specialists.

Process & Quality Oversight

  • Ensuring work is performed according to customer requirements, internal standards, and documented procedures.
  • Learning to monitor machine performance, throughput, yield, and quality metrics; take corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist with conducting and documenting routine job inspections to verify compliance with company policies, preventive maintenance schedules, and quality standards.
  • Develop the skills to read and interpret, system schematics, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and process documentation.

Systems & Troubleshooting

  • Learning to monitor, use, and interact with machine control systems, control codes, computers, and SCADA systems.
  • Assisting in the downloading, reviewing, and analyzing SCADA and production data to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Reporting equipment issues clearly to Qualified Operators, Team Lead, Production Supervisors, and/or engineering.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifying, recommending, and supporting improvements to processes, equipment, and workflows to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Assisting with equipment commissioning, process changes, and system upgrades as needed.

We are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Has a High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to learn and excel in a production environment.
  • Has strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
  • Can generate, interpret, and communicate production, quality, and job order reports.
  • Has strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Can follow, enforce, and improve detailed process steps and parameters using modern manufacturing technology.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to move up to 50lbs.
  • Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Can wear PPE.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.’
  • Able to tolerate variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions during inspections or work around railroad-adjacent equipment.
