Position Overview: Firehawk Aerospace is seeking a skilled and motivated technician to join our growing team. As a Machine Shop & Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting both machine shop operations and facility infrastructure. Your expertise will directly contribute to our mission of delivering cutting-edge technology to enhance national defense and the future of space exploration. Key Responsibilities: · Execute and optimize preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime of critical production assets · Perform corrective maintenance on CNC machines, manual mills & lathes, waterjet, and other shop equipment. This includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (up to 480V) · Operate manual machine tools for repair, and modification of parts as needed for facility and equipment upkeep · Execute and assist with material moves and prep work, including use of overhead cranes, forklifts, and machinery such as band saws and grinders · Conduct routine maintenance, repairs and upgrades to facility infrastructure, including basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks · Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment logs, repair histories, and inspection data · Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals · Adhere to and promote all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment · Interface with engineering and other disciplines to help generate solutions to unique maintenance and manufacturing challenges · Manage maintenance supplies and spare parts inventory · Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives within the facility · Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime · Assist with equipment setup, alignment, and calibration as needed · Maintain equipment electrical cabinet and mechanism cleanliness · Support annual internal and external AS9100 audits Basic Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training and additional certifications preferred · 3+ years of experience in machine maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment · Experience with CNC and manual machine tools, as well as basic facility systems · Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, with an understanding of 3 phase power and basic mechanisms. · Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and machine layout drawings. · Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and written and verbal instructions · Basic skills in manual machining, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work · Working knowledge of shop mathematics and trigonometry · Familiarity with inspection tools and processes · Strong problem-solving and organizational skills · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · Working knowledge of industry safety standards (OSHA & DCMA) Preferred Qualifications: · Aerospace or defense industry experience · 5+ years of experience in CNC machine maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment · Deep understanding of 3-phase power, motor starters, relays, and industrial wiring. · Proven experience with mechanisms, including ball screws, spindles, gearboxes, and precision alignments. · Practical experience troubleshooting CNC control systems (Mori Seiki, Fanuc, Haas) and PLC interfaces including ladder logic interpretation and machine parameter adjustments · Forklift operator certification · Commercial driver’s license (CDL) · General contractor’s license · Certification in industrial maintenance or machining · Experience with manual machining (mill & lathe) · General knowledge and experience handling hazardous materials ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Security Clearance: May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
