As a fast-growing startup in the aerospace and defense sector, we are seeking a dynamic Director of Communications to lead our strategic communications efforts and elevate Firehawk’s brand and mission across government, industry, and public audiences. Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day HR support to employees within Firehawk Aerospace to develop and execute HR strategies that foster organization effectiveness and the acquisition and retention of top talent. This position is responsible for assisting the HR Director with guiding employees on best practices, company policies and procedures under guidance from the HR Director to ensure enterprise alignment. Responsibilities: - Recruitment & Staffing: Collaborate with department managers to define job requirements and create job descriptions. - Assist Recruiting in scheduling of interviews and travel for candidates. - Support new employee onboarding, including orientation and paperwork. - Employee Relations: Assist with conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace issues. - Ensure the workplace adheres to company policies and maintains a positive work environment. - Compliance & Record-Keeping: Ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal employment laws, including OSHA, EEO, and FAA regulations. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with industry standards and regulations. - Assist with preparing for internal and external audits. - Training & Development: Help coordinate and manage employee training programs related to safety, compliance, and professional development within the aerospace industry. - Ensure employees are properly certified and trained for the required roles. - Help promote a safe working environment by coordinating safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations. - Support the development and implementation of safety programs, including risk assessments, safety audits, and emergency procedures. - HR Reporting: Prepare HR reports for management, including employee statistics, turnover rates, and other key metrics. - Assist in preparing and analyzing data related to HR trends within the aerospace sector. Basic Qualifications: - 4-6+ years’ experience in progressive HR. Preferred HR professional with experience in Defense, Military, or Aerospace. - Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field or, a combination of education & work experiences equivalent to knowledge, skill and capabilities. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: - Able to build and maintain effective co-worker and employee relationships across all interactions, proven customer service skills - Advanced oral and written communication skills; ability to translate complex concepts to individuals at all levels; ability to appropriately challenge stakeholders to positively impact decisions and solutions. - Foundational knowledge of engagement tactic related to culture, diversity and inclusion - Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, ability to be detail-oriented and consistently accurate, timely and able to manage effectively stress. - Possesses a thorough knowledge of HR standards, principals and best practices; knowledge of labor law as it relates to employee relations and employment practices. - Demonstrated experience providing consultative HR partnership in a professional, dynamic environment. - Advanced organizational and planning skills; proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision; proven ability to coordinate and execute activities. - Focus on continuous improvement. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, database, and internet applications; experience with HRIS system a plus. - Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Security Clearance: May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
